Forged Billet Dynalite 4 Piston Calipers


Wilwood's FDL is drag racing's strongest and most efficient four piston caliper. Forged billet bodies, and a highly efficient radial transition design, are the keys to the superior strength and efficiency of this caliper. FDL calipers incorporate new technology with proven performance features from other Wilwood designs. These calipers generate high clamping force without deflection from four stainless steel pistons. Stainless is used to resist corrosion and reduce heat transfer from the pads. Square faced o-rings provide long service life and decreased drag through positive piston retraction. Wilwood's SRS stainless steel bridge plates eliminate wear caused by pad gouging and extend the service life of the caliper. The spring-loaded action of the SRS plates also eliminates pad rattle and dampens the vibration harmonics that contribute to pad squeal. The 1/8" NPT fluid inlet ports are easily adapted to all types of flexlines. Internal fluid passages evenly distribute pressure to both sides of the caliper without the need for external tubes. Four corner bleed screws assure simple and effective bleeding regardless of the caliper location. The brake pads are easily inspected and serviced without caliper removal. Each caliper carries Wlwood's signature and a black anodized finish. FDL calipers are a direct replacement and upgrade for all previous Dynalite models.



Forged Billet Aluminum Hubs and Aluminum Rotor Mount Plates


Forged aluminum hubs are unmatched for strength and weight savings. Premium grade billets are forged into shape under high heat and pressure, then CNC machined for precise fit on each spindle application. Each hub is multi-drilled for 5 on 4.50" and 5 on 4.75" wheel lug patterns. Aluminum backside mounting plates are supplied for solid rotor mounting directly to the hub. The hubs are shipped with bearing races installed, new bearings, grease seals, screw-on aluminum hub caps, and 1/2-20 RH grade 8 wheel lug studs.



Solid or Drilled Lightweight Steel Rotors


Special alloy steel rotors are light and strong with high thermal stability and resistance to distortion. Aluminum plates mount the rotor directly to the hub, with the rotor's steel mass concentrated in the pad sweep faces to efficiently absorb and dissipate heat. The rotor ID is scallop cut between the mounting lugs to eliminate all unnecessary weight and assist with airflow for cooling. In categories where every ounce and thousandths of a second count, drilled rotors provide maximum weight reduction. Drilled rotors feature an engineered hole pattern that is very specific to size and location to keep distortion low and durability high. For heavier cars, or cars competing in bracket or throttle stop categoris, the additional mass in the solid face rotors will provide longer service life from the rotors and pads. Each rotor is surface ground for precise thickness and parallelism, then black oxide finished to resist corrosion.



PolyMatrix Brake Pads


PolyMatrix 7112 "E" compound brake pads provide immediate cold response and a smooth rising torque curve over a wide temperature range. "E" provides steady control during burn-outs and staging, with immediate response at the finish line. There is fade free performance for the hottest stops.



Caliper Brackets and Hardware


Aluminum brackets with steel threaded bolt hole inserts are lightweight and strong. Each bracket is CNC machined for precise fit on each specific spindle. Grade 8 strength or higher nuts, bolts, washers and alignment shims are included in each kit.

The fittings and flexlines to install these brake systems must be ordered separately.
